Port day
Norwegian in Roatán: you dock at Coxen Hole
Norwegian Cruise Line docks at Coxen Hole, the Port of Roatán, alongside Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, MSC, Disney and Virgin Voyages. You walk off with no tender. Carnival and its sister brands use the island's other terminal, Isla Tropicale, about fifteen minutes away.

Your ship ties up at Coxen Hole, the terminal next to Roatán's main town. It has been the island's cruise pier since 2007 and it is the one most lines use. The other one, Isla Tropicale, is Carnival Corporation's and is about fifteen minutes east by road.
Freestyle ends at the gangway
The thing about sailing Norwegian is that nobody tells you when to eat. Your port day is not like that. The all-aboard time is fixed, it is earlier than the departure time printed on your itinerary, and the island does not care how relaxed your dining plan is.
So the one bit of planning worth doing is the return, not the outbound. Anything you book should be built around getting you back with margin, and any operator worth using will tell you what time they have you back before you pay.
What you can reach
There is no beach inside this terminal. West Bay is the beach in the photographs and it is a drive away, at the western end of the south coast. The wildlife parks with the sloths and monkeys are inland. The reef is reachable by boat from several points along the coast.
Coxen Hole is the closer of the two ports to most of that, which is a small advantage you get for free.
Short trip or full day
For a pharmacy, an ATM, a supermarket or a specific restaurant, a taxi from the terminal is 10 US dollars per passenger one way, 20 round trip, cash, booked an hour ahead. We drop you and come back at the time you set with the driver.
For the reef, the animals or a proper beach day, book a tour. Our Roatán shore excursions include pickup at the terminal and we watch your ship's departure time, not the clock.
Book with the ship name
Ships get reassigned between the two terminals. Give an operator your ship name rather than the port and the reassignment stops being your problem.
