Port day
Carnival in Roatán: you dock at Isla Tropicale
Carnival docks at Isla Tropicale, the terminal it renamed from Mahogany Bay in May 2026. Princess, Holland America, Costa and P&O use the same pier. You walk off the ship with no tender, and this port has its own beach inside the gate, which is the main thing that separates it from the island's other terminal.

If your booking still says Mahogany Bay, do not go looking for a different port. Carnival Corporation rebranded the terminal as Isla Tropicale in May 2026 and opened a pool and beach complex called Mangrove Bay at the same time. The pier did not move. Only the name on the paperwork changed, and older tickets still carry the old one.
Who else docks here
Isla Tropicale belongs to Carnival Corporation, so the whole family uses it: Carnival, Princess, Holland America, Costa and P&O. Everyone outside that group ties up at Coxen Hole, about fifteen minutes away by road. If you are travelling with friends on a different line, you will not be arriving at the same gate.
You walk off, and you can stay
There is no tender at either Roatán terminal. You leave the ship, cross the terminal building and you are out.
What makes Isla Tropicale different is that you do not have to be. The port sits on roughly twenty acres with its own beach, reachable on foot or by the chairlift that runs over the complex, plus the new pool area. For a passenger whose whole plan is sand and a drink, that is a real answer: you can spend the day without leaving, and plenty of people do.
When leaving is worth it
The port beach is a port beach. What it does not have is the reef that made Roatán famous, the sloth and monkey parks, or West Bay, which is the beach people picture when they picture this island.
West Bay sits at the far end of the south coast, so from Isla Tropicale it is the longer of the island's two airport-to-beach runs. That is worth knowing when you are deciding between a full excursion and a short trip out.
Getting out for an hour
Not everything has to be a tour. If what you want is a pharmacy, an ATM, a supermarket or a restaurant you saw online, a taxi from Isla Tropicale runs 15 US dollars per passenger one way and 30 round trip, paid in cash, booked with an hour's notice. We drop you and we come back for you.
If you want the reef, the animals or a full beach day, that is a tour, and our Roatán shore excursions all include pickup at your terminal.
Book with your ship name, not your port
Ships get reassigned between the two terminals. The ship name is the detail that survives a schedule change, so give an operator that rather than the port. We check the arrival board the morning of your call either way.
